Roger M. Freeman is a corporate lawyer with a national practice focused on representation of technology companies and investors in the alternative energy sector. Mr. Freeman has more than 10 years experience as a corporate lawyer and executive in the energy industry. Mr. Freeman has represented a leading national distributed generation company, energy related software companies, real estate developers and municipal utilities. Mr. Freeman has experience in a wide range of corporate law matters including: corporate structure and governance; corporate finance, private equity and venture capital transactions; mergers and acquisitions; contract negotiation; strategic partnerships and licensing; executive compensation; and the representation of tax exempt entities.
Mr. Freeman served as a distributed generation stakeholder representative in collaborative negotiations for the development of interconnection standards in Massachusetts and was one of the primary drafters of the model Interconnection Tariff for Massachusetts. Mr. Freeman is a frequent speaker and moderator on distributed generation and alternative energy and has written several articles for trade publications including: the Sun (magazine of the Northeast Sustainable Energy Association) and the Boston Business Journal.
Mr. Freeman practiced corporate and energy law at Hill & Barlow from 2000 to 2003, representing technology companies and investors. From 1995 to 1999, Mr. Freeman was the Executive Vice President and COO of Citizens Energy Corporation, where he managed business operations and legal affairs. During that time with Citizens Energy, he managed asset sales, completed a significant corporate restructuring, negotiated key strategic partnerships and led venture investments in the energy sector. Mr. Freeman began his legal career in 1993 with the Washington, D.C. office of O’Melveny & Myers, where he practiced corporate law.
Mr. Freeman is a member of the American Bar Association and the Boston Bar Association and is licensed to practice in Massachusetts, California, and Washington, D.C.
