Robert Peeler established his private lobbying practice in late 2006, following ten years of service in senior staffing positions to a Member of the Texas Senate and a former Member of the Texas House of Representatives. In addition to being a founder of Longbow Partners, he is Of Counsel to Cox Smith Matthews Incorporated, one of Texas’ leading law firms.

Peeler has represented a wide range of business sectors with both legislative and regulatory interests; including a specialty pharmaceutical manufacturer, a medical device manufacturer, an association of alcohol wholesalers, an association of electric companies, an association of farm equipment manufacturers, a gaming company, an air ambulance provider, an electronic medical records company, an association of tobacco manufacturers and the country’s largest telecommunications company.

Prior to starting his practice Peeler served as Chief of Staff to Senator Mike Jackson, R-La Porte, for more than six years (three legislative sessions), supporting the Senator’s agenda of insurance reform, a fair and balanced approach to the state’s tax system and deregulation of industries emphasizing a competitive market approach.  In the Senate, Peeler developed significant expertise in regulatory issues, natural resources, taxation, and the state budget.

Before moving to the Senate, Peeler served three years as a senior staff member to a now-retired State Representative from the north Texas area.  Ahead of his time in the House, Peeler served on the staff of then-Texas Governor George W. Bush in the division of criminal justice.  A licensed attorney, Peeler also clerked for Justice Larry Meyers of the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals, the state’s highest court for criminal matters.

A Dallas native and dual graduate of the University of Texas at Austin, Peeler holds a BA, English earned while on four-year football scholarship, as well as a JD from the UT School of Law.  He is married, has three children and resides in Austin.
