Professional Experience: Stephen W. Still is a shareholder in the Birmingham office of Maynard, Cooper & Gale, P.C. and serves as chair of the firm’s
governmental and regulatory affairs practice. His practice involves representing clients before legislative, regulatory and governmental bodies at all levels of government including the U.S. Congress, departments and agencies of the federal government, the Alabama legislature and departments and agencies of state and local government, including specifically state insurance departments. Steve has extensive experience working in Washington, D.C., Montgomery, Alabama and numerous other states. His knowledge and experience include the specific areas of insurance, health care, banking and financial services, as well as energy and natural gas regulation. Steve served for nine years as Vice President and Associate General Counsel at Torchmark Corporation, a publicly traded insurance holding company, after serving for ten years at Sonat Inc., where he was assistant Vice President. These positions provided Steve the unique experience of managing the governmental affairs operations for two of the largest publicly held companies headquartered in Alabama.
