Pannone Lopes Devereaux & West Partner Teno A. West presents at
18th Annual North American Waste-to-Energy Conference
Providence, RI (May 10, 2010) – Nationally recognized municipal infrastructure attorney, Teno A. West, a partner with Pannone Lopes Devereaux & West LLC (PLDW) will present remarks at the 18th Annual North American Waste-to-Energy Conference (NAWTEC) Thursday, May 13 beginning at 9 a.m. His presentation is entitled “Successful Procurement of Emerging Waste to Energy Technologies.” The NAWTEC is widely recognized as the leading industry technical conference and trade show focusing on municipal waste-to-energy operational issues and policy, technology and research initiatives. This year’s conference is being held in Orlando, FL.
West, who leads the PLDW Municipal Infrastructure team, will provide an overview of the legal, technical, contracting and permitting issues associated with procurement of emerging solid waste technologies for municipalities. As lead attorney for the City of Taunton, MA for its procurement of a solid waste management public private partnership using conversion technology to create clean, renewable energy as a solution to decrease cost, eliminate waste and reduce the loss of open space for the Commonwealth, West has first-hand knowledge of the challenges and opportunities faced by decision-makers in this new frontier.
“Waste to energy conversion technologies are proving to be a major step forward in environmentally sound and efficient management of municipal solid waste,” said West. “These technologies combine material management with alternative energy, biofuels, and reduce the destruction of open space caused by land-filling usable materials.”
