Tydings & Rosenberg LLP Announce Special Recognitions and Appointments

Recognitions

Maria Ellena Chavez-Ruark and L. Content McLaughlin have been named two of Maryland’s Top 100 Women for 2009.  The annual award recognizes one hundred of Maryland’s leading women who are making an impact on our state through their outstanding achievements.

  L. Content McLaughlin is also the recipient of this year’s Athena Award (the ATHENA Foundation is an international, non-profit organization dedicated to creating leadership opportunities for women).  The award recognizes women who have attained and personify the highest level of professional excellence, have devoted time and energy to the community, and have opened doors of opportunity for women.

One-third of the firm’s partners were named to Maryland Super Lawyers in 2009.  William C. Sammons was selected by Super Lawyers as an outstanding attorney practicing business litigation in Maryland; Alan M. Grochal is recognized for his practice in bankruptcy and creditors’ rights law; and Thomas M. Wilson has been named for the last three years for his antitrust litigation practice.  Also named in 2009 were Herbert J. Belgrad, Glenn E. Bushel, William W. Carrier, III, Mark D. Dopkin, Daniel S. Katz, and Lee B. Rauch.  Four partners were named to the 2009 Best Lawyers list:  Herbert J. Belgrad, Alan M. Grochal, John B. Isbister, and Thomas M. Wilson.

 

Appointments

Toyja E. Kelley has been appointed by the ABA to serve as Co-Chair of the Diversity Subcommittee of the Insurance Coverage Litigation Committee of the Section of Litigation.  Mr. Kelley currently serves as Vice Chair of the Defense Research Institute’s Diversity Committee and will become Chair of that committee at their annual meeting later this year.  He has also been reappointed to the Maryland Defense Counsel Board of Directors.  Mr. Kelley was also recognized by Maryland Super Lawyers in 2009 as a “Rising Star.”

Melissa C. Jones has been appointed to the Board of Directors of Meritas.  Meritas - Law Firms Worldwide is an international, non-profit, invitation-only alliance of more than 170 independent commercial law firms in 60 countries.  Tydings & Rosenberg LLP is the Maryland member of Meritas.
