Professional Experience
Fournier J. Gale III (“Boots”) is a founding shareholder in the Birmingham office of Maynard, Cooper & Gale, P.C.
He is currently the President of the State Bar of Alabama. He is also a member of the Birmingham Bar (President 1989); the Alabama Bar (President Young Lawyers 1977-1978); the American Bar Association (Standing Committee on Environmental Law, 1980-1986; Standing Committee on Federal Judiciary (1998-2000)); and the American Bar Foundation.
Mr. Gale graduated with honors from the University of Alabama in 1966, where he was a member of Jasons and Omicron Delta Kappa, among other honorary societies. He received his law degree from the University of Alabama School of Law in 1969. Mr. Gale was elected to the Order of the Coif and served as Editor-in-Chief of the ALABAMA LAW REVIEW. Mr. Gale served as Special Counsel to Governor Don Siegelman from 1999-2003 and is General Counsel of the Business Council of Alabama. Mr. Gale is a member of the Alabama Commission on Higher Education and served as its Chairman in 1998-2000. Mr. Gale served as a Member of the Jefferson County Judicial Nominating Commission (1994-2000). He was President of the University of Alabama Law School Foundation in 1987 and currently serves as its Treasurer.
