Kurt Oneto is an attorney in the firm’s government law section, where he deals with a wide range of issues including initiative and referendum campaigns, statutory interpretation, state constitutional matters, local government, and litigation. Prior to joining Nielsen Merksamer, Mr. Oneto served as a legislative analyst with the California District Attorneys Association and as a legislative aide to a member of the California State Senate. Additionally, Mr. Oneto interned for a member of the United States House of Representatives. He graduated Phi Beta Kappa from the University of California, Berkeley, receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science. He received his Juris Doctor degree from the University of California, Los Angeles School of Law. After joining Nielsen Merksamer, Kurt also earned a Master of Arts degree in Government from Sacramento State University where he wrote his Master’s Thesis on the relationship between voter turnout and ballot measure outcomes in California. Upon completing his Master’s degree, Mr. Oneto was granted membership into Pi Sigma Alpha, the national political science honor society. Mr. Oneto is a member of the California State Bar. |
